Meet our founders
With Lucy offering her woodland as the perfect location for their endeavour, and Megan’s unwavering dedication and expertise in working with cancer patients, we formed a company that would become a haven of healing for those affected by cancer and the imminent loss of a loved one.
Lucy’s drive to create this haven is rooted in the experience she had when her husband was battling cancer. She found herself in the role of caregiver while also looking after their four small children. This trying time brought to her attention a significant gap in the support system for individuals and families facing the prospect of losing a loved one.
Determined to make a difference and help others going through similar experiences, Lucy vowed to find a way to utilise her woodland in providing care and counselling to families, individual and carers. Lucy carried on developing her skills as a charcoal maker and forest school leader for several years before meeting Megan, a compassionate nurse with experience of working with cancer patients.
During Lockdown, when the world changed, Lucy and Megan became acutely aware of how important nature is to the wellbeing of us humans. Megan was volunteering at one of Lucy’s Forest Schools on a regular basis and the pair soon became friends. Megan was working with cancer patients providing massage and care. The pair realised that creating a healing space within the woodland was something they both wanted to do: they saw in each other an opportunity to offer people who are struggling an opportunity to find solace and support through what can be a very isolating and difficult time.
Eager to make a lasting impact and bring their collective ideas to fruition, they joined forces. Although the idea was rooted in providing support for cancer patients and their caregivers, it is not restricted to any diagnosis, but rather, it’s all encompassing, aimed at anyone who finds themselves on the fringes of social living.
Together, they wanted to provide a safe community were individuals come to “Find their Frith” and share their love of the outdoors. They had an instant connection and realised Megan’s experience of working with cancer patients, and Lucy’s journey of caring for her husband and looking after her children throughout his cancer battle, sparked a partnership to start this venture.
